Zoot was surrendered to AZBTR with his brother Bounson when they proved to be too much to handle around the small child in the home. He is a little chunky at the moment, but he is working hard to shed some pounds and LOVES his daily walks and also walks on the treadmill if his forever home has one. Prior to rescue, he was professionally trained on the remote collar and is absolutely excellent on leash…so much so, that sometimes you have to double check to make sure he’s still with you! Zoot is a little insecure and was bullied a bit by his brother, Bounson, but now that they are separated, he is beginning to find his own identity and thrive!

He is currently being fostered with a cat and doesn’t torment his new roomie at all. He has grown up with dogs and has done ok with those that he’s met since, but he’s easily excitable so a meet and greet would be necessary with any resident four-leggers. Zoot loves his crate, knows sit, down, off, place and uses a dog door for bathroom breaks. He is a funny little man, who loves to play fetch and when he runs out of steam, will happily mush his face all over you and snuggle on the couch.

Zoot would do best in a home with older children or no children, with a patient owner who will encourage him to continue to come out of his shell by taking him out of his comfort zone. He absolutely thrives with guidance and structure, so someone who will keep up his training to help him continue to make good choices is ideal, as he has been known to get a little cantankerous at times to get his way.  He is 7 years old, spunky in spurts and a giant kisser! He hopes that his Christmas wish comes true and he finds a forever home!
